Rotterdam will be spoiled this night with music that’s been all over the world and needed all over the world.                       William Parker (born January 10, 1952) is an American free jazz double bassist, multi-instrumentalist, poet and composer.Parker was born in the Bronx, New York City He is a prominent and influential musician in the New York City experimental jazz scene,[1] and has regularly appeared at music festivals around the world, including the Guelph Jazz Festival, in southern Ontario .The album Sound Unity by the William Parker Quartet was chosen as one of Amazon.com’s Top 100 Editor’s Picks of 2005. His August 2008 CD Double Sunrise over Neptune was listed as one of the top 10 2008 (through end of August) Jazz CDs at Amazon.[2] Also released in 2008, Petit Oiseau was chosen as one of the best jazz disks of 2008 by The Wall Street Journal,[3] the BBC’s Radio Three,[4] The Village Voice,[5] and PopMatters.[6]




Hamid Drake  (born August 3, 1955) is an Americanjazz drummer and percussionist. He lives in Chicago, IL but spends a great deal of time touring worldwide. By the close of the 1990s, Hamid Drake was widely regarded as one of the best percussionists in jazz and avant improvised music. Incorporating Afro-Cuban, Indian, and African percussion instruments and influence, in addition to using the standard trap set, Drake has collaborated extensively with top free-jazz improvisers Drake has worked with trumpeter Don Cherry, pianist Herbie Hancock, saxophonists Pharoah Sanders, Fred Anderson, Archie Shepp and David Murray and bassists Reggie Workman and William Parker (in a large number of lineups)


Klaas Hekman (Amsterdam, 5 november 1949) specialiseert zich als een van de weinige musici in Nederland op de bassaxofoon. In 1980 ziet hij tijdens een ontmoeting met Lol Coxhill in een Londense muziekwinkel een bassaxofoon staan en schaft deze meteen aan. Andere instrumenten die de in Rotterdam wonende Hekman bespeelt, zijn dwarsfluit, piccolo, sopraansax en baritonsax. Met de ensembles De Zes Winden en De Nazaten maakt hij vele nationale en internationale tournees. Van de laatste groep is hij mede-oprichter.

John Dikeman John Dikeman is an American saxophonist currently residing inAmsterdam. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of sources, John’s playing runs the gamut of improvised music and technique, ranging from reductionist extended technique based improvisation to full throttle free jazz. The underlying characteristic of his music is an unnerving commitment, a total abandonment to sound. John has performed extensively in the USAas well as Canada, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Sudan,Israel, France, Germany, Belgium, Poland and the Netherlandswhere he is an active performer and organizer
